Cappadocia Avanos International Tourism and Handicrafts Festival
31/08/2010 - 07/09/2010
Place: Avanos-Cappadocia
The village of Avanos in the province of Cappadocia has been known for many years as a great pottery-producing centre. Cappadocia is one of the most important handicrafts centres in Turkey, with various crafts being developed in Cappadocia.
The festival is organized by Avanos Municipality, to make the region's handicraft tradition known, especially pottery which is the most commen craft in Avanos.
Avanos overlooks the longest river of Turkey: the Kizilirmak (Red River). The most famous historical feature of Avanos, which is still relevant and very visible today, is its production of earthenware pottery. The ceramic trade in this district and its countless pottery factories date right back to the Hittites, and the ceramic clay from the red silt of the Kizilirmak has always been used.
Cappadocia Urban Adventures are operated by Zafer & Fuyo and the rest of the team of Cappadocia Tours and Activities. Discover the secrets of this historical region through their different Cappadocia tours. We look forward to meeting you and showing you this beautiful region of our country!
